Role Plays

I appreciated the numerous opportunities to engage in role-plays throughout our face-to-face week during summer institute. Being able to integrate my learning by participating in the group activities presented by my peers and practicing foundational skills allowed me deepen my learning, experiencing a more intimate level of learning.

The following is an excerpt taken from my Process Log, July 24, 2018

As a visual learner, I was able to deepen my learning through the power of role plays, to tie theory and content together and bring it life. Role plays have always been something that I have shied away from out of my own discomfort. Today, I witnessed the power this technique holds to transform the learning experience. Had I not seen this, lived it, and felt the magic, I cannot say that I would have emphasized the use of role plays in my own practice as a group therapist. I now recognize that they are a must to include in the group process!
